A Question we often get asked is "how do I lubricate my garage door correctly?"
The answer depends on the type of garage door that you have.
All up and over garage doors need luricating with a light oil, cheap engine oil is good or 3 in 1 type oil. (WD40 is a bit to thin), sectional doors can be done in the same way. All pivot points should be oiled and while your doing it also put some oil on the torsion spring accross the top on canopy doors. Retractable door springs require no lubricant apart from the ends of the springs. This applies to all makes of door Hormann, Garador, Henderson, Cardale, King and Wessex.
Sectional doors can also lubricated in the same way, all pivot oints and hinges should be lubricated and also torsion springs if the door has them.
Roller garage doors like the Gliderol, Hormann Rollmatic and the Seceuroglide only need lubricating with silicone spray in the guides. Don not use oil and grease on these as it binds up the material on the sides causing the door to stick during operation!
